Gaumont sells Aussie pic in slew of territories
(Note: It appears the title of The Grandmothers has been changed to Two Mothers.)
French mini-major Gaumont has closed a raft of sales on Anne Fontaine’s “Two Mothers,” a Australia-set drama-romance toplining Naomi Watts and Robin Wright.
In the runup to Cannes, the $16 million pic sold to Italy’s BIM, Israel’s United King Films, Hungary’s Budapest Film, Singapore’s Cathay and Lithuania’s Acme. Gaumont previously sold the film to Switzerland (Pathe) and Canada (Remstar). Hopscotch and Gaumont will release in Australia and France, respectively.
CAA, which reps Watts and Wright, is representing the film’s sales in the U.S.
AS The Grandmothers shoot wraps at Seal Rocks this week the time has come for your humble Advocate scribe to reflect on his time as a Hollywood correspondent.
It wasn’t until my final trip out to God’s country last week that I hit pay dirt, Naomi Watts frolicking, canoodling, cavorting, whatever you’d like to call it on a pontoon several hundred metres out to sea. I finally got my shots even though some pesky dude holding a big sheet of aluminium foil kept getting in the way. She was with one of the young lads, either Xavier Samuel (the bloke from the vampire flicks who at 28 is playing one of the young sons) or Animal Kingdom star James Frecheville (adapting well to a romantic drama given his last movie was about the jungle). All in all as journalistic experience goes it was one for the resume under: ‘Hollywood Insider’ Entertainment Tonight, here I come.
(In response to this previous post.)
And it seems s/he might be a closeted Xavier fan:
Thanks so much for clearing up question! Liev Schreiber and I breathed sighs of relief. Or was that just me? I’m sure he wasn’t worried. Don’t get me wrong, Xavier Samuel is a gorgeous, talented guy, who’s looking tan and toned in the pics, but Liev and Naomi Watts seem so great together. It’s good to hear at least one Hollywood couple is still standing the test of time! Lots of love and thanks again!
Dear Till Vice Do Us Part:
They’re hardly the perfect pair, those two, Ollie, but you’re right: They are making it work. But trust me, it won’t be some young boy-toy former Twilighter that comes between Liev and Naomi. That’s not her style.
Anonymous asked: Awwh did someone really send that in about naomi and xavier? That's so funny and sweet at the same time haha. Isn't naomi quite older than xavier anyways? So funny :3
Yep, it appears someone misconstrued those on-set photos. Although, maybe if one half of my beloved “Hollywood couple” was snapped in that situation with Xavier, maybe I’d be worried too. I mean, who wouldn’t be threatened by him? (And his face, and his body, and his talent, and his accent, and his hair, and … am I getting too off topic here?) Actually, though, now that I think of it, I don’t know that I have a favorite famous pairing. Anyway, Naomi will be 44 this year and Xavier will be 29, so they’re 15 years apart. Surprising, considering the fact she might be playing his mother.
From Ted Casablanca’s “The Awful Truth” column over at E! Online. (Which, let’s be clear, consists of fans writing in asking gossipy questions about celebs, so this is not any sort of reliable reporting at all and the fan’s issue has no basis in fact - it’s their interpretation only. I just thought it was funny someone was concerned enough to send in this query.)
Oh no! Do Liev Schreiber and I have anything to worry about? He and Naomi Watts are my fave Hollywood couple and their kids are super adorable, so please tell me there’s no trouble in paradise! I saw pics of Naomi in Sydney, where she’s shooting her new movie The Grandmothers, and it looked like she and younger costar Xavier Samuel were getting rather hands-y, complete with a piggy-back ride. Say it ain’t so!
Dear Watts Up:
OK I will. Hon, those pics are from Naomi and Xavier hangin’ on set. And Liev and Naomi seem to have a pretty healthy Hollywood relaysh; also, don’t forget Liev’s been spotted with Naomi in Sydney while she’s filming. I highly doubt Naomi and Xavier are taking their work behind the scenes. He’s probably just looking to have some fun with N, and who can blame him? She’s gorgeous!
